A hoodie that lasts: 5 rules for washing and care

A good hoodie can last for years. Here's how to keep your NAMA piece looking new after the hundredth wash.

Duks koji traje: 5 pravila za pranje i održavanje

Cotton is forgiving, but it has two enemies: heat and friction. Avoid them and your hoodie will last far longer.

1. Turn it inside out

Before washing, turn your hoodie and joggers inside out. The embroidery and outer face won’t rub against the drum and other clothes.

2. 30°C max

Cooler washes protect the colour, especially black and grey. At 30°C cotton doesn’t shrink, and detergent still does its job.

3. No tumble dryer

A dryer is the fastest way to lose a size. Dry flat or on a rack, out of direct sun.

4. Don’t iron over the embroidery

If you must iron, do it inside out and avoid the logo.

5. Fold, don’t hang

Heavy hoodies stretch at the shoulders on a hanger over time. Fold them and keep them on a shelf.

Bonus: wash whites separately, and wash a new black piece on its own the first time.
